The goal of the Sardes research team is to study the construction of MultiScale Open Systems.
MultiScale open systems are computer systems that can scale from resource-constrained embedded systems to cloud-based systems, and are characterized by the following attributes:
- Dynamicity: these systems undergo continuous evolution and operate in changing environments.
- Concurrency: these systems must deal with multiple concurrent events and activities.
- Distribution: these systems can span networks and geographically separated locations.
- Heterogeneity: these systems rely on different hardware, software and networking facilities, and host diverse applications.
